Sulfur and Rotten Egg Smell Removal in Cornelius, OR

Sulfur and Rotten Egg Smell Removal in Cornelius, OR

That rotten egg smell is hydrogen sulfide gas. You can smell it at around 0.5 parts per million, so even a small amount is hard to ignore. It also tarnishes silver and blackens copper fittings. Cornelius, OR Well Water Treatment provides sulfur and rotten egg smell removal for private wells in Cornelius, OR.

The first question is where the smell shows up. If it is only on the hot side, the cause is often the magnesium anode rod in the water heater reacting with sulfate-reducing bacteria. Swapping to an aluminum-zinc or powered anode can fix it for far less than a full system. If it is on both hot and cold, the gas is coming from the well itself.

For well-wide sulfur we install:

• Air-injection hydrogen sulfide filters
• Chlorine or hydrogen peroxide injection with a contact tank and carbon filter
• Shock chlorination when sulfur bacteria are the source

We test hydrogen sulfide on site, because it gasses off fast and lab results can read low. Then we size the system to the level we find.
